Frank Hall Tournament 2nd March 24

The winner takes it all - Redhill "A" win £200 for club funds

The Frank Hall Tournament for outdoor clubs saw 18 teams entered this year a great turnout from local clubs. Most teams/clubs know each from bowling either indoors at Donyngs or outdoors in the Summer so this helps create a very friendly yet competitive atmosphere between teams. The tournament was very well organised with plenty of time for breaks and included a cooked lunch naturally the bar was open all day!

2 groups played 3 games of 6 ends gaining points for each end won/drawn & for a overall shots win. The winner & runner up from each group play a semi-final with of course the 2 winning semi-finalists going forward to contest the final. Scores in both groups were very close however it was Banstead Neville B vs Redhill A who won through to the final.

Redhill A won the final game which was watched by a very good audience after a long days bowling.

Frank Hall - Like so many tournaments we play in at our clubs we are unaware of the history attached to competitions however history is important & makes our clubs what they are today.

Frank by all accounts was a founding director of Donyngs who did much to raise sponsorship & funding to enable the club to literally get of the ground in 1982. It was Frank who put the spade in the ground to cut the first turf as Donyngs Indoor Bowling club was born.
